PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Career History
Retired Navy Commander with twenty years experience in managing and supervising a wide variety of petroleum logistics operations. Steady career progression resulted in ever increasing responsibilities. Managed worldwide inventory of 80 million barrels of petroleum products, scheduling control of 14 ocean going tankers and overall operations of worldwide terminal system.
Laboratory Operations
Directed operations of several petroleum quality surveillance laboratories, including equipment procurement, personnel training, and quality control operations.
Program Sponsor for multimillion dollar energy Research and Development program with oversight of research being conducted at laboratories throughout the country. Projects included oil reclamation, energy efficiency improvements for ships and aircraft, and improvements in energy consumption reporting systems.
Environmental Management
Developed and Implemented Spill Prevention and Countermeasures Plans for large fuel terminals. Awarded Environmental Protection Award in nationwide competition at one of those terminals.
Federal On-Scene Oil Spill Coordinator for contiguous waters around Diego Garcia (British Indian Ocean Territories). Developed
Spill Prevention and Countermeasures Plan. Directed cleanup operations of numerous small spills and one large tanker discharge. Coordinated groundwater remediation efforts.Hazardous Materials Coordinator for large multifunctional industrial facility. Responsible for safe storage and shipment of a variety of classes of Hazardous Materials.
